Papa Taiao empowers young people to step into leadership, care for the whenua, and create enterprises that regenerate our planet and communities. Their kaupapa is simple but powerful; enabling ākonga to make a living while restoring the land, water, and ecosystems that sustain us.
Local Future Farming Programme
The Future Farming programme, delivered locally through the Trades Academy, gives Year 11–13 students the chance to learn by doing. Out in the field, ākonga pick up real skills like fencing, beekeeping, pest control, planting, machinery use, soil and water care, and animal husbandry. They also connect with local farmers, innovators, and contractors, seeing firsthand how regenerative practices and new technologies can shape the future of farming.
Future Farming blends practical skills with a deep sense of kaitiakitanga. It’s about growing food, growing enterprises, and growing people who will stand strong for their whenua and community.
